McCainal Retention (2008)

Installation still by Fiona MacNeill.
McCainal Retention was the final appearance of the Moira Doyle character, who had progressed from a high level secretary, to politician, to public disgrace. At the point of McCainal Retention, Doyle was working as a cleaner and had done stellar job of cleaning the toilets whilst maintaining a secret drawing area under the sinks where she lovely drew portraits of famous women, also known as the Women of Mass Distraction. Doyle’s internal state of mind was represented through both staged and candid camera-style photographic images on the walls of the art gallery’s toilets.
